Alex J. Durst recently attended the Alternative Finance Bar Association’s Sixth Annual Conference, which was held at Covington & Burling’s New York office.
Durst Kerridge was a sponsor of the conference, which was attended by industry personnel, in-house counsel and attorneys from throughout the United States. Presentations highlighted key issues facing the alternative finance industry, which is comprised of Merchant Cash Advance (MCA) and Factoring companies, among others.
The conference featured insightful discussions on the latest state and federal litigation developments, bankruptcy-related issues, and collections challenges. As part of Durst Kerridge’s Financial Services litigation practice, the Firm is at the forefront of representing Merchant Cash Advance companies in challenging and complex civil litigation matters venued in Ohio. Notably, Durst Kerridge represents multiple MCA companies as lead counsel in Ohio lawsuits filed by banks following the infamous collapse of Harold Sosna’s nursing home empire.
Financial services litigation often involves multiple parties located in different states or countries, large amounts in controversy, intricate contractual agreements, complex statutory or regulatory schemes, choice-of-law questions, jurisdictional disputes, arbitration agreements and numerous other factors that can make the cases complex–necessitating high-level strategic considerations. This is where Durst Kerridge shines.
