Durst Kerridge Successfully Petitions Ohio Supreme Court to Accept Discretionary Appeal Involving Ohio and Federal Constitutional Law Issues

We are excited to announce that Durst Kerridge successfully petitioned the Supreme Court of Ohio to accept our client’s discretionary appeal in the case of In re L.E.S. Our Firm was specially hired to handle the appeal.

The Court formally accepted the appeal earlier this week. Fewer than 7% of civil appeals are accepted by the Court.

The case presents a substantial issue of constitutional law pertaining to parental rights. The lower court’s decision can be read here.

Paul R. Kerridge heads Durst Kerridge’s Ohio Supreme Court Practice, having previously served as both an Ohio Supreme Court Clerk and a Clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Paul has handled numerous appeals in the Ohio Supreme Court throughout his career and is extremely well versed in the process for the Court granting jurisdiction and hearing discretionary appeals, as well as in Ohio Supreme Court practice generally.
